Mr-Glass Window Installation: The Jupiter Owner’s Guide

Mr-Glass window installation in Jupiter typically runs $340-$780 per opening depending on the series, glass package, and whether the existing frame is preserved or replaced. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible hardware, sashes, and frame components for same-day repair on most common failures, and we carry full replacement units for the 300 and 500 series in our Jupiter warehouse. Most homeowners discover a problem when the sash won’t stay open, the lock tongue no longer seats, or they feel air movement at the meeting rail during a northeast wind off the Atlantic.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass organizes its residential line into the 300, 500, and 800 series, with the 300 being a single-hung vinyl window, the 500 a double-hung with a tilt-wash feature, and the 800 a fixed or casement impact-rated unit. The part you need depends on which generation you own. Pre-2019 units used a cam-lock with a 2-3/8 inch hole spacing; post-2019 production switched to a sweep-lock with 2-5/8 inch spacing. The label in the upper right corner of the sash, visible when opened, carries the series number and a six-digit date code. We match to that code.

We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Mr-Glass. For most repairs we install OEM-spec components from our inventory. For discontinued hardware, we source certified aftermarket equivalents that meet the same AAMA 1304 operating force standards. The 500 series tilt-latch is the most common mismatch we see in Jupiter; homeowners order the generic white latch online and discover the Mr-Glass version has a 7/16 inch rib that standard latches lack.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Installation Is Failing

Signs Your Mr-Glass Window Installation Is Failing
  • Sash drops or won’t stay raised. The balance system, either a constant-force coil or a block-and-tackle depending on series year, has lost tension. In Jupiter’s salt-air environment, balance corrosion accelerates; we see this first on east-facing units within eight to twelve years of install.
  • Visible gap at the meeting rail when locked. The sash interlock or keeper has worn, or the frame has settled. On the 300 series, the interlock is a snap-in vinyl piece that cracks rather than bends; on the 500 series, it’s an integral extrusion that requires sash replacement if damaged.
  • Lock operates but does not draw the sashes together. The cam has rounded or the strike plate has shifted. Pre-2019 cams were zinc alloy; post-2019 switched to glass-filled nylon. The wear pattern differs, and mixing generations causes rapid failure of the mating part.
  • Condensation between glass panes. The insulated glass unit (IGU) seal has failed. Mr-Glass uses a dual-seal system with PIB primary and silicone secondary; Florida thermal cycling stresses the edge seal faster than northern climates. We measure the daylight opening and order a replacement IGU to the exact 1/16 inch.
  • Tilt-wash latches break or won’t release. The 500 series tilt-latch is a sacrificial part designed to yield before the sash rail cracks. Cheap replacements lack the proper release angle; we stock the correct spec and see this failure most often in Jupiter homes where the original installer used aftermarket latches to save four dollars per window.

What drives the range: frame condition, whether the opening is second-story or requires ladder work, and whether the original install left adequate shimming for proper operation. Our quote includes the measured survey you keep, the written scope with line-item pricing, the part, the labor, and the photo record. Every Mr-Glass repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise under the Haven Standard. No change orders. The price we write is the price on the invoice.

An owner can safely check the label location, photograph the failure, and verify the lock operates smoothly without forcing it. What goes wrong in DIY: ordering by visual match rather than series code, installing a standard balance in a constant-force coil pocket, or forcing a tilt-wash release and snapping the rail. On second-story units, ladder work over hardscaping carries real fall risk. We carry the correct parts on the truck, measure the rough opening to confirm square, and document the before-and-after with photos you receive by text.
